The Stalker

The Stalker. The Lover[1]

He was trembling

Playing inside her green eyes

Smelling her beauty

He stared at her

He waited

A  young soldier he was

A Jew!

In the army

A gun on his back

Yellow and smooth as honey was his hair.

Burning inside he followed her

Home, school, and in between

As frequent as the freckles on her face, he chased her, he loved her

Outside the school gates, he waited, in her neighborhood, in her living room

 Love and hate

Contempt and affection

Powerful yet softened

What to do

How to feel

The brigade left

A gun stands between them

and an ocean mystery of why?

A gun stands between them

and an ocean mystery of why?

She was trembling

Standing in the living room

Smelling fear

She stared at the floor

She waited

A  young girl she was

A Christian!

 In school

A backpack on her back

Yellow and smooth as honey was her hair.

As an autumn leaf, she moved

Shaking inside, she withered

As the number of soldiers in the jeep, we escorted her as she faltered home

With a piercing gaze from his hazel eyes, she splintered from his love in fear

Scorn and fear

Admire and loathe

Engulfed with weakness

How to feel

What to do

She breathed.

[1] From 1967 until 1992, Israeli soldiers controlled and patrolled the streets of the West Bank cities. Thus strange stories like this can occur when a military presence is found among a civilian population.
